Upper Humber Rod and Gun association / Covid-19 Action

Posted by smith.wendell1@gmail.com on November 30, 2020 at 10:35 AM Comments comments ()

The Upper Humber Rod and Gun Association building and range facilities will remain closed to all our members, guests, and user groups until Dec. 07. We have consulted with the Town of Deer Lake and the Dept. of Health for instructions and guidelines. Following that, Our Executive and Board have decided that we follow the recommendations of the Town of Deer Lake and remain closed until Dec. 07. Our scheduled user groups have cancelled due to Covid-19 in the area. They have informed me that they will most likely be back to visit us early in the new year. For now some of their training has been rescheduled at another location given the circumstances in our area.

As stated previously, "we have been seriously following guidelines and measures put in place by the Dept. Of Health. Those guidelines have been put in place and are being implemented for everyone's safety during visits. We will continue to do so for your safety and protection. We stand with the Town of Deer Lake for public safety issues of Covid-19 to help stop the virus from spreading."

To this end the building has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized this morning and will be ready for our next user group. The building will remain closed until Dec. 07.

We Sincerely Apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause.

Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.

I will be sending a memo to the Board of Directors in a few moments and an advisement will be issued shortly with regards to our members having access to our Ranges and Facilities over the next week as requested by the Town of Deer Lake.

Thank You for your understanding during this difficult time of pandemic. We must all be doing our part to help protect our loved ones. Any one wishing to contact myself can do so by calling my home at 709 686 5228, or can leave a message to me at the link below. COVID-19 Update- Town Of Deer Lake

November 21, 2020

The Deer Lake Town Council held a meeting today to discuss the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the community. In light of the rising number of positive cases, and in the interest of public safety, the Town of Deer Lake will be keeping the Town Office and Hodder Memorial Recreational Complex closed until Monday December 7th, 2020.

Western Health staff are continuing to conduct contact tracing and testing is still on-going. Test results take approximately 24 hours before results are known.

The Town of Deer Lake is asking that all non-essential businesses take the initiative to cease regular operations until December 7th, 2020.

Residents are asked to stay at home as much as possible. Those at higher risk of complications due to COVID-19 should not go out, except to get essentials like groceries and medications. The Town of Deer Lake is encouraging residents that must go out to wear a mask unless medical reasons permit otherwise.

Western Health staff are working tirelessly and are in contact with our MHA and the Town of Deer Lake to continue to monitor the situation. All organizations involved are doing their utmost to control and contain the virus.

The Town of Deer Lake would like to stress to our residents to follow all the public health measures and ask for patience, compassion and kindness as we continue to fight the COVID-19 virus.

Residents are reminded if they become symptomatic they are asked to call 811.

The Town of Deer Lake appreciates

your cooperation in this very important matter. Further guidance on COVID-19 can be found of the Provincial Government website.

ALL shooters will have to register on site and non-members will pay a $6.00 fee to help cover costs, prior to any shooting activity. A portion of the fees collected will be forwarded along with our own contribution to one or more of the following; The Western Memorial Hospital Foundation, The Janeway Childrens Hospital or The Childrens Wish Foundation so that the entire community may benefits from our outdoor activity. Donations to these charitable organizations help us, our children and their families in a time of need.

While at the range Hearing and Eye protection is mandatory for everyone near any shooting area and must be worn at all times during any shooting activity. Park in a safe area always !

Although the club has a supply of the safety equipment on hand, that supply will depend on the numbers of people present.

During this Covid-19 pandemic for safety reasons we request you bring along your own protective equipment and be prepared with protective gloves and hand sanitizers or disenfectants. The club does have a supply but bringing along your own would be great and will not take up unreasonable time for cleaning for our attending UHRGA members.

Masks are required where safe distancing measures cannot be maintained. Covid-19 restrictions will apply as per the Dept. of Health guidelines. Our Covid-19 Level 2 Action Plan is posted on this page and at the range.

Please make every effort to bring along your own range safety equipment and personal precautionary protection.

Washrooms will not be accessable during our sight in times. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

This event is intended to be a fun shoot to participate in and enjoy. Five person relay teams selected by a draw of registered names.  Each name will be drawn in turn to select the members of each team (e.g., first name drawn for team #1, second name drawn for team #2, etc.) until all team relays are filled.  The number of teams will depend on the number of registrants.  If a team is a person short, a volunteer from another team may shoot as a substitute on that team. However, this will require more ammunition for the volunteer team participant! To be awarded overall “Top Gun” (male and female) or “Top Gun Team”, a registered shooter/team must compete in and complete all events (singles, handicap, and doubles).

Please remember that this is a fun event, so regardless of trap shooting skills, we are looking for and encouraging full participation. While there are no official awards, the winning team (Top Gun Team) will have their names inscribed on the perpetual Memorial Shoot Trophy and the Top Gun (male and female) will have his/her name inscribed on a plaque for overall high gun.  Certificates will be presented to the Top Gun (male and female) and Top Gun Teamwinners. Photographs collected will be posted to the club web site.

NOTE:  In allowing your photograph to be taken, you hereby give permission to have it posted at the Upper Humber Road and Gun Association web site.  If you do not wish to have your photograph posted, please advise the Trap Chair (George Alteen, Sr.)

July 12, 2020

LEVEL 2 AWARENESS - COVID-19 ACTION PLAN

RANGE USE REMAINS AT YOUR OWN RISK

Due to the COVID-19 and the declaration of a Public Health Emergency by the Province of Newfoundland Labrador, The Executive and Board of the Upper Humber Rod and Gun Association has enacted an action plan for our range and the Association.

Updates have been made related to the Alert Awareness which has now moved to

" LEVEL 2 " as of June 25, 2020

Considering Health Canada’s guidance that outdoor activities present a lower risk but social distancing is still recommended, please note the following;

• UHRGA group activities and rentals are permitted with restrictions.

• The clubhouse will remain closed until further notice but may be made available under very strict guidelines and with strict cleaning measures put in place.

• Continued use of ranges by members in maximum of 50 persons / group / range during a "Level 2" Alert Awareness as long as the 6 foot / 2m Safe distancing measures can be maintained as per public health and MUST be strictly adhered to.

• Social distancing shall be maintained by all persons at all times on all ranges. The only exception to be persons within your own Family Bubble as defined by Provincial Government. Protect yourself and others, Wearing a mask is safe practise.

• Use only every second shooting platform and/or maintain safe social distance between each person including those at shooting positions.

· Special measures have been put in place by the Trap team for additional COVID-19 safety.

• Members/guests are responsible for their own hand washing measures / sanitization and each person will assume any and all risks when touching any surfaces including locks, doors, tables, chairs, and surfaces. It is a good idea to bring along cleaning/disinfectants.

• Leave nothing behind, everything you bring in you bring out including shell casings, cartridges and boxes, drink bottles and cans.

• If someone or group is using the range, please consult from a distance and wait in your vehicle / or safe area until they are finished.

• Please be respectful of others waiting.

• Memberships will continue. Contact myself directly for any issues or concerns.

We will review/renew our action plan every 2 weeks but it may be changed or cancelled at the discretion of the UHRGA Executive and Board, direction of Health Canada, or our Provincial Government where Government Regulations will be proclaimed the rule of the day. Keep yourself informed.
